Standard ducted vacuum hoses vs switched ducted vacuum hoses.

Ducted Vacuum Hose

A standard ducted vacuum hose is a basic hose designed to fit most central vacuum wall inlets. The standard ducted vacuum hose is made from a crush proof plastic and is the most basic designed hose in the central vacuum industry with a replaceable hose cuff and hose handle. With a standard ducted vacuum hose you will have suction once the hose is inserted into the wall inlet. The metal contact on the end of the hose cuff completes the low voltage circuit turning the ducted vacuum system on. When the hose is removed from the inlet the signal is interrupted causing the ducted vacuum to stop. The standard ducted vacuum hose comes with a air relief valve in the handle of the hose to allow you to increase or decrease the suction These hoses come in three different lengths, 9 metres, 10 metres and 12 metres but custom made lengths up to 20 metres can be made.

Ducted Vacuum Switch Hose

Ducted vacuum switch hoses have a switch on the handle which allows you to switch your ducted vacuum system on or off at any time without going to the inlet. This can be useful when the phone rings or there is a knock at the door whilst you are vacuuming. The switch hose come in three different lengths- 9 metres, 10.5 metres and 12 metres. If you are upgrading from a standard hose to a switched hose please check all of your inlets as they must have two low voltage metal contact pins inside the hole of the valve. These pins are what makes it possible to use a ducted vacuum switch hose on your system. Many older ducted vacuum inlets had a hidden micro switch attached to the flap or a single ball bearing switch. These inlet valves are not compatible with a switch hose however you can still upgrade to a switch hose if you replace all of your inlets to the modern 2 pin type ducted vacuum inlet valve.
